3 consecutive days of posting... hells yes.ok. so the new year, for some of us of the asian persuasion, is today. im taking a break from all that fireworking and gambling that us viets are sooo good at to write you a lil note to prove that we can break away from debauchery to make a point... which is... that we are so much more than funny accents and questionable mom and pop shop health code practices. or rather that I am not representative of the whole viet community so i should stop saying we...
around this time of year im reminded that i am hella viet. and i love it. i love the traditions, the coconut candy and the cherry blossoms. dropping off gifts to loved ones (candies i swear they will NEVER eat) and i love the house when it's this time of year, my mom actually does cute mom things around the house. she arranges flowers and is all cute about it. I love the house at midnight when random and not so random people come over to light fireworks in the street. i love that. my parents become kids again and it's a generally nice feeling that everyone is happy or scared shitless of the highly explosive and illegal fireworks (which i am not admitting we ever had in our possession).
the money isnt all too bad either. and as i type they're all still here wasting the night away with melon seeds and heinekens.
