I remember reading somewhere (maybe here) that they buy vintage dresses that are too large and tailor them down to fit the actresses.

BTW, finally started reading BD. Then I got to Jacob's section and stopped...

yes they are made of that fabric, especially the stitching that makes you marry a man that resembles a corpse.

but they're also made of the kind of fake velour you get at Forever 21. They're your period pants, yo.
